Diesel pressure continues: put delivery costs under the microscope

The International Energy Agency’s 14 October oil-market report says global diesel supply remains tight after disrupted exports and depleted stocks. Its figures describe an international market and do not predict a particular UK forecourt price, but they give delivery-dependent businesses a reason to recheck margins, quotation periods and fulfilment choices.

Clearer company reports: turn business knowledge into usable evidence

The Financial Reporting Council published two thematic reviews on 14 October covering intangible value drivers and financial-instrument disclosures. The detailed requirements examined apply to selected company reports and listed corporates, not automatically to every small business, but the wider lesson is useful: explain clearly what drives performance, connect the numbers to operations and remove detail that obscures decisions.

ONS figures released on 13 October show lower average industry concentration in 2025 than in 2010. That is useful national context, rather than proof that winning local customers has become easy. Our practical focus is making a smaller supplier’s expertise visible.

Retail sales inch up: give shoppers a clear reason to buy

The BRC’s 13 October release reports modest September sales growth, with non-food spending barely rising. For smaller shops and seasonal sellers, the practical question is how to explain value, plan quantities and make a purchase straightforward.
